About Hot Plate Haven

We believe that food is more than just sustenance—it's a way to connect, create memories, and share love across tables and generations.

Our Story

Hot Plate Haven began in 2005 in a small kitchen in Portland, Oregon, where founder Emma Richardson started hosting cooking classes for friends and neighbors. What began as a passion project quickly grew into a community hub for food enthusiasts.

By 2010, we had expanded to offer catering services, and in 2015, we launched our online platform to share recipes with food lovers worldwide. Today, Hot Plate Haven reaches millions of home cooks each month, inspiring them to create delicious meals and lasting memories.

Our mission has always been simple: to make cooking accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced chefs. We test every recipe multiple times in our test kitchen to ensure they work perfectly in home kitchens.

Our Philosophy

At Hot Plate Haven, we believe that great food doesn't have to be complicated. We focus on recipes that use fresh, seasonal ingredients and highlight their natural flavors through simple techniques.

We're committed to sustainability and ethical sourcing. Whenever possible, we recommend locally sourced ingredients and support small producers who share our values. Our recipes celebrate global cuisines while respecting their cultural origins.

Food is our love language, and we believe that cooking for others is one of the most meaningful ways to show care. That's why our recipes are designed to be shared—with family, with friends, and with community.
